Henry Lau graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1995. Following his graduation, he established his own design company and launched his own brand, “SPYHENRYLAU,” which is renowned for its fusion of casual street style with a touch of sophistication. Drawing inspiration from the nuances of everyday life, Lau infuses his collections with theatrical and experimental elements through the use of special themes and narratives. His casual wear consistently embodies a subtle stage glamour.

In 2006, Lau published his first book, “Henry Fashion Diary.” The following year, he was honored with several prestigious awards, including the “10 Outstanding Design Award,” the “40 Under 40” designer award, and the “B&W Great Advancement Award.”

Lau has collaborated with numerous internationally recognized brands such as De Beers, Cartier, Swarovski, Cotton USA, and heritage brand Chicks, among others. He has also designed for local artists and served as an image and art director for various concerts. His clientele includes a roster of high-profile names like Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, Hacken Lee, Vivian Chow, Amy kwok, Chris Wong, Anthony Lun, Teresa Cheung, Cheung’s brother, Jay Chou, Charmaine Fong and Jason Chan。some of the art pieces are permanent exhibited in cultural museum. 

In 2013, Lau participated in the globally renowned program “America’s Next Top Model,” showcasing his avant-garde and creative designs and being a judge’s for them . His work is characterized by its pleasant surprises in terms of color and material combinations. His collections are highly regarded within the local fashion scene and have garnered the interest of international buyers from the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, Canada, and Japan, among others. Renowned shops such as JOYCE, Villa Moda in Kuwait and Dubai, A02, LCX, and specialized select shops worldwide carry his designs.

In 2021, Henry was commissioned by Greater Bay Airlines to design a fresh new uniform for their entire staff. Today, he remains very active in fashion design and styling, and is also committed to nurturing the next generation by serving on the executive committee of the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association.
